Registration and Grade
Information
Registration is possible during selected
times through either the Telephone Registration System
(TRS) or the WEB Registration System (WRS).
WRS is part of the WEB technologies now available for remote
access of student information. TRS is a computerized system
that allows the student to register for classes and adjust
his or her class schedule by using a "touch-tone" telephone.
Registration by either TRS or WRS eliminates the need for
being physically present at the University's Registration
Center.
How
Do I Access The System?
Access is granted by use of the Student Identification
Number (normally the student's Social Security Number) and
Personal Identification Number (PIN). The PIN number is four
digits and is initially set to the day and month of your
date of birth. The PIN can be changed by contacting the Registrar's
Office. (A step-by-step worksheet is provided to each continuing
student shortly before registration.)
Who Is Allowed
To Register?
Continuing students enrolled during a particular term
and classified as degree-seeking will be given access to
TRS/WRS in order to register for the upcoming term. This
includes graduate students, undergraduate students, and those
non-degree students officially recognized as seeking teacher
licensure.
A student who has
stopped out (i.e., has not completed or is not in the process of completing the term immediately preceding the term for which student plans to register) must be readmitted. To be readmitted to an off-campus program, the student
must contact the Office of Extension and Distance
Education by calling 1-800-355-4084.
When
Can I Register?
The procedure and specific time and date on
which a student will have initial access to TRS/WRS is sent
to the student by mail.
Please note that TRS/WRS is programmed to deny
access to a student until the time and date specified in
his or her instruction letter.
When Will I
Be Billed? When Do I Pay?
If you register during the early registration period, a
billing statement will be mailed to your PERMANENT address.
Account information is accessible on both TRS/WRS.
Payments can be mailed to Appalachian State University,
Student Accounts Office, John Thomas Hall, PO Box 32005,
Boone, NC 28608-2005.
Payment by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) is available
using TRS (option #4 - Check Student Account Balance), or
on WRS (Credit Card Payment), or by calling (828) 262-2113.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PAYMENT
OF TUITION AND FEES REGARDLESS OF WHETHER A BILLING STATEMENT
IS RECEIVED.

The TRS / WRS
During the period when a student has access to the system,
TRS/WRS will be open from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday through

week, eleven hours per day).
The Registrar's Office is open Monday trough Friday 8:00
AM - 5:00 PM. If you experience difficulty in registering call
1-800-355-4084.

hours; a graduate student with an assistantship may register
for no more than 12 semester hours during the academic year.
The maximum during summer term is 12 semester hours.
How Do I Use The
System?
A set of step-by-step instructions is provided to each continuing
student shortly before registration.
How Do I Register
For A Class That Requires Special Permission?
For registration that requires instructor and/or departmental
permission, the student must contact the appropriate academic
department. If permission is given, the academic department
will code the permission on-line, allowing the student to then
register by TRS/WRS.
Final Grades?
Final grades are available through both TRS and WRS for the
four most recent academic terms.
Grades submitted to the Registrar's Office by 3:00 PM during
a final examination day are posted on TRS and WRS by the following
day.
What if I have difficulty
using TRS or WRS?
