Tuition for off-campus courses is charged according to course number and not student classification. Any course numbered 5000 or above will be charged at graduate tuition rates; a course numbered below 5000 will be charged at the undergraduate tuition rates.

Residency (and Change of Residency)

The basis for determining the appropriate tuition charge rests upon whether a student is a resident for tuition purposes. For additional information regarding residency status click here.

If you are currently classified as a N.C. resident for tuition purposes but no longer permanently reside in N.C., you are required by law to inform the University immediately. Notification should be directed to the Registrar's Office. Please indicate the date on which you ceased to reside in N.C.

Payment

Following registration, the Office of Student Accounts sends statements (to the permanent addresses) to those students who have registered within a certain period of time. Students must pay by the due date shown on the statement in order to avoid the $40 late payment charge.

* Appalachian reserves the right to alter or change tuition and fees as dictated by the UNC General Administration or the NC Legislature.
