Admissions Partnership Program

Beginning Fall Semester 2004, Appalachian State University will be entering its 31st year of offering the Admissions Partnership Program (APP). This program offers qualified and highly motivated students the opportunity of shortening the time required to complete a baccalaureate degree by taking particular college courses while still in high school. The selection process for entering the Admissions Partnership Program is the same criteria used for admission to Appalachian State University; therefore, the APP student is considered to be a provisionally-admitted Appalachian student. Following high school graduation the APP student is able to continue at Appalachian without having to submit another application.

Currently, the Admissions Partnership Program is being offered at the following four high schools: Avery, Hibriten, South Caldwell, and West Caldwell High Schools. Courses offered in APP are general education courses typically required of college freshmen, including English composition and literature, world civilization, and precalculus and calculus. The program is designed to utilize the teaching abilities of outstanding teachers in the high schools who are recommended by their principal and screened and approved by the appropriate department at Appalachian. A faculty member from the appropriate Appalachian department serves as instructional advisor for each class.
